The serial number is 118515A denoting the year of manufacture as 1883. The engraving on top of the barrel is mostly clear: WINCHESTER'S REPEATING ARMS. NEW HAVEN, CONN. U. S. A. KING'S IMPROVEMENT PATENTED MARCH 29. 1866.
