Each blossom is sculpted in high relief, allowing the petals to fold, curl, and overlap just as they do in the garden. Rather than treating the flowers as decoration, Delphin Massier made them the architecture of the piece itself. The scrolling handles seem to grow naturally from the iris petals, dissolving the boundary between function and
