This is a genuine early United States Naval Boarding Cutlass dated 1861 on the blade ricasso. The reverse has a scroll emblem with the maker name inside: Made by AMES MFG. CO CHICOPEE, MASS. The 26 inch blade is in very good condition, with a bright finish with just a bit of oxidation staining in places. The edge is a bit rough do to some light denting.
