Here we have a lovely late 17th Century German Socket Bayonet, intended for hunting Wild Boar, as was a common practice. It measures 14 1 2" in overall length, with a very sturdy 10" iron blade. The socket diameter is approximately 7 8". The basic idea was that once the the single shot hunting gun was discharged, having a raging wild boar charging you was always a terrifying possibility, so these hunting knife style
