There is an official correction to the surname which is supported by the medal roll which initially lists his name as spiers

Mary, Groat, Sole Reign (1553-1554), #sherborne Fine with a nice portraitMary, Sole Reign (1553 1554), Groat, crowned bust left, rev. square topped shield over cross fourche, 2. 01g, 7h, m. m. pomegranate (North 1960; Spink 2492), rough chipped with a resulting hairline flan split from 11 o'clock and through the crown, slightly concave, otherwise an atypically strong portrait for this notoriously soft issue, struck details near very fine, and attractively toned.
