Description

Named after 19th century German botanist/pteridologist Alexander Braun

making a classy candelabra that dries atop the stalk for a great winter ornament in the garden or for use in dried arrangements

Our friend and brilliant plant taxonomist Larry Hatch has so far traced this amazing cultivar back to 1812

indeed only several hundred specimens are known in cultivation

and are produced in the heat of summer

Asarum dissitum Black Flowering Plants Named after 19th century GermanFrom Ishigaki Island in the Japanese Ryuku Island chain comes a new asarum into the US. A. dissitum is renowned for its thick velvety evergreen foliage, which can be either solid green or occasionally speckled with silver. A clump formed from the large rounded 3 4" leaves makes a spectacular specimen for the woodland rock garden. The small rounded brown bottle shaped flowers surround the base in spring.
