This is an excellent example of a genuine Canadian Mark II steel helmet that is dated 1940. The stamping on the underside of the rim reads: G. S. W. MK I 1940 G. S. W. stands for General Steel Wares of Toronto, who made helmets from 1940 to 1942. While this helmet is stamped with Mk I, that is the designation GSW used for the first shell version of the MkII Helmet, so this is definitely a MkII helmet. The paint is
